During the 2015 winter we invited the public to experience the Abode of Awesome for themselves. We asked them to test our promise that our home could deliver total comfort in the heart of a Highveld winter without any electrical heating whatsoever.
Stand 47 is about state-of-the-art materials that efficiently regulate internal temperature, absorb pollutants from the air and contain sound within each room. But for our guests it’s something more than that. Read their personal experiences of total comfort.
Stand 47 was built using Saint-Gobain’s wall and ceiling systems that are designed to keep you warmer in winter and cooler in summer. These materials also result in a more flexible, quieter, healthier home - designed to deliver optimal comfort with the benefit of high efficiency.
Inside VS Outside
We measured our ambient internal and external temperatures over the course of the 2015 Highveld winter in real time and monitored our total energy consumption. On average, the home delivered a comfortable 18,4 degree average without any electrical heating and kept itself warm even when external temperatures dropped below zero.

GRID CONSUMPTION VS PV SOLAR OUTPUT
Our home is connected to the National Power Grid but supplements its energy needs using a Photovoltaic (PV) solar solution. PV energy is fed into the home during the day to offset daytime energy consumption from the grid.
The green line indicates the average amount of energy contributed during daylight hours. The red line indicates energy consumption. Remarkably, our average Energy contribution (0,73kw) exceeded our average energy requirements of 0,72Kw.
